Important Notice Regarding 2026 Rent Increase Requests

Date Posted: 02/18/2026
Category: Public Notices

Attention: Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Landlords

Thank you for your continued participation in the West Palm Beach Housing Authority's (WPBHA) Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program. We value our partnership with you and appreciate the important role you play in providing safe, stable housing to families in our community.

Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) nationwide are currently experiencing significant funding shortfalls. Unfortunately, the WPBHA HCV Program has also begun to feel the impact of these constraints. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has advised all PHAs to implement cost-saving measures to ensure program expenditures remain within 2026 funding levels and, most importantly, to prevent the termination of housing assistance for participating families.

As a result, and effective April 1, 2026, the WPBHA cannot be approve rent increase requests for the remaining of calendar year 2026. This difficult decision was made to allow the Authority to continue serving the current number of families assisted through the HCV Program. Any alternative at this time could result in the termination of assistance for families who rely on this program for housing stability.

Our goal remains to operate an effective and efficient program while continuing to provide you with responsive and professional customer service. We respectfully ask for your continued cooperation and understanding as we navigate these challenging funding conditions.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact your assigned Housing Specialist for assistance.

Thank you for your partnership and continued support.

Sincerely,

Teresa Gonzalez - Director HCV Program Administration
