Florida Resource Center for Women and Children and The West Palm Beach Housing Authority are excited about our Resident Opportunities and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) Program. ROSS program links public housing residents with supportive services, resident empowerment activities, and assistance in becoming economically self-sufficient. Services for the ROSS are currently being provided through the Career Development and Computer Training Center located in Dunbar Village. The program is currently being managed by the Florida Resource Center for Women and Children, (FRCWC) an agency that has an ongoing partnership with the West Palm Beach Housing Authority. Services offered include the following: Computer Training (Word, Excel, Power Point) Job/Education Training, Life Skills classes, Literacy training, Financial Readiness and Home Ownership Preparation classes.

The (ROSS) program was launched in June 2008. The Career Development and Computer Training Center located at Dunbar Village has provided services to over 300 program participants. As one of the residents stated, “Something new and exciting takes place everyday in the Career Development and Computer Training Center.”

The Program provides for the delivery and coordination of supportive services and other activities designed to help public housing residents attain self-sufficiency. It provides residents of public housing job readiness training, literacy classes, remedial and development studies, job placement, entrepreneurial training, business development advice, on-going counseling, referrals and mentoring.
