Public Housing

The agency owns and operates 712 public housing units. The WPBHA was established to provide safe, decent and affordable housing to individuals and families with limited financial resources. The WPBHA owns and operates the Conventional Housing Program and owns 712 public housing units under this program.

The purpose of the public program is to provide decent and affordable housing to low-income families at reduced rents. The developments are owned, maintained and managed by the Authority. The developments/units are acquired, developed and modernized under HUD’s development and comprehensive grant programs. Funding of the program operations and development is provided by federal annual contributions and operating subsidies and tenant rentals (determined as a percentage of family income, adjusted for family composition).
